I am pleased to announce that I will share my love of Black History and the Gilded Age in a series entitled: Black and Gilded: Black Pittsburgh in the late 19th and Early 20th Century.
This blog series will highlight some fantastic Black people I researched who lived and worked in the City of Pittsburgh from 1870 to 1910. We will learn about teachers, politicians, lawyers, and more whose stories have not been widely shared with the public. Additionally, this blog will explore how they contributed to racial uplift in the city amid Reconstruction, Jim Crow laws, and changes in the social and political landscape.
I am excited to share these amazing stories with you and hope you enjoy them.
